If you stand on the side lines and watch the game, you see the game, however, you are not part of the game you are a spectator. The same applies in politics, as a spectator all you can do is scream insults at the people that are passing the stupid laws and giving your money away for stupid projects.
It is time to get in the game, YES, writing letters do work, talking to your neighbors and your co-workers work. I am not talking about the stupid people that votes Democratic or Republican because my daddy was, or will vote for one party or another come hell or high water. These people are beyond hope and there is nothing you can or will say that will change them. However, if you stop and think about all the people you know, there are a lot of people just like you that do not like what is going on any better than you, talk to them, get them active and stop them from being a spectator in the game of politics. If you don’t know how to write or contact your State or Federal representative, go the web site http://www.congress.org/ and type in your zip code. Once you have the information write the letter and mail it. Tell your friends and co-workers where they can find the name and address of their representatives and encourage them to write their representatives. Hold a coffee klatch, start small and invite a few people that you know will have engaging conversation, you are now a participant and no longer a spectator. You will find out that once you become a participant that you can and will make a difference.
